STAR House #4: The Frank Pontillo House
STAR 4/The Frank Pontillo House is ready to welcome the residents who will make this house their own! The constructors have finished the construction and the furnishings have been furnished. We are just waiting for the licensing process to be completed. Then this house will officially become a home! STAR would like to share this short video with you to give you an insight into what your love, your generosity, and your support has built. A little bit about Frank Pontillo, the gentleman whose memory we honor. Frank Pontillo passed away on November 24, 2017 at the age of 96. Mr. Pontillo was born in Batavia, New York and served proudly in the army during World War II, with the majority of his service in the European theater. He was married to his beloved wife, Adalyn L. Smith Pontillo for 57 years. Frank was the owner of Arbor Tool and Die in Inglewood, California for over 40 years and a 60 year resident of Baldwin Hills. Frank Pontillo became a supporter of STAR when plans were in development to purchase the group’s very first home. Many of STAR’s members were also members of the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America Centinela Valley Lodge #1991 in Torrance, CA. Frank became familiar with STAR through his friends at the club and supported the fundraisers throughout STAR’s long history with Centinela Valley Lodge (the wonderful association that still exists today.) In 2018, STAR was designated the recipient of a sizable donation from the estate of Frank Pontillo. Because of his overwhelming generosity, STAR was able to actively pursue the purchase of a much-needed STAR House 4. What a legacy he has created and what an honor it is to have known such a wonderful humanitarian.
